#KasiLife

What is kasi life?
Some may say its a way of life, others may say its a trap of poverty which is not easy to escape. Although life may be difficult in the township, it does offer an opportunity for one to make something out of themselves.through the years people who stay in townships have grown and became more business minded than before and opportunities have came about, today kasi life has changed. Soweto as a kasi has grown in business, this allowing the famous township to be acknowledge by many, the recent high numbers of tourism visits to soweto has grown the township and has put it on the list of  tourist  who want to visit the township because of its iconic past.
.The kasi life has different parts to it, from the food to the clothing, the markets, businesses, and arts and cultures.

KASI FOOD

Kasi food always traditional food that will always remind you of home. food brings people together in the township,Vilakazi Street that's why places such as Vilakazi street, where former president  Nelson Mandela used to reside, are booming because of the different times of restaurants that offer a variety choice of foods. Kasi has always been known for their famous kota, but until recently , when Listeriosis  was discovered to be in processed meat, businesses took a hard knock, this resolving to business to lose profits or even worse to close down.

Advantages

New business that have opened around townships, give the unemployed the opportunities of getting work and acquiring new skills. allows members of the community to start their own business knowing they've got backing of their neighbours. Community members come together as one, by working together, this allows the community to attract investors.the historical sites and social markets attract tourists from all over the world and this good for the economy of the country.Township

Disadvantage.
kasi is usually dominated by its dark side and this is why more and more want to leave the townships.
unemployment is not avoidable and this leads to more teenage pregnancy and crime among the community, HIV a huge concern among the people. Lack of education is a huge problem and this would lead to more crime and this will make it difficult for the youth to get any job opportunities.

Recommandations

  • more security for endangered communities.
  • neighbourhood watch
  • more libraries for members of the communities
  • programmes to educate and upgrade the skills of the community members.

  1. The topic that you have chosen about kasi life is very interest because most people did not know that townships had so many opportunities such as job creating ,bring people together as one and the adventures that townships have such as Vilakazi Street.

  2. It is so true that us, Kasi people always have to look over our shoulders because of the high crime rate in Kasi's. One of the most hurtful thing is hearing about successful businesses in the Kasi having to close down, such as the ones that were affected by the listeriosis outbreak.

    1. its best for our communities to take charge and take part in the neighbourhood watch so that we can protect our mothers, sisters, brothers and our fathers from all this crime...they have to come up with alternative ingredients for the kotas if they wish to continue selling, instead of processed meat, they can replace it with chicken fillets, just a thought.

  5. The presentation of the topic is well presented as it gives you an insight to how kasi life is. The blog talks about how certain kota joints have to close due to the recent outbreak listeriosis that really affected the fast food industry and the kota making industry. in most kasis. Crime is a very serious issue in most townships and i see how that was explained in this blog.
